Another week, another inspiration post. This week I want to talk a bit about the City of Melbourne brand redesign. Here's the Behance project page for anyone interested.

This redesign is incredibly creative and is a great example of a dynamic (sometimes "kinetic") logo. The basic shape of the logo is already somewhat eye catching by itself, but the way in which it changes it's colors and geometric fill is particularly inspired. Ultimately, I think this allows the logo to be used in any situation with any color. Dynamic logos are a huge trend right now in the world of design. Just look at Hillary Clinton's logo (consider this example objective and not an endorsement of her politics or the design itself) or Nickelodeon's logo for more examples.

While dynamic logos are becoming increasingly popular, Melbourne's brand design seems to be engaging and eye catching on another level. Even if it's been around for a while, it's still interesting to consider and look at when in need of some inspiration.
